Types of blankets for newborns
Standard blanket
Standard blankets for newborns are designed for children of different ages. Some models are suitable only for the first year of life, while others can be used from birth to three or four years. For example, a blanket of size 100x140 and 110x140 can be used for children 0–3 years old, and models of size 80x110 - for children up to a year.
Blankets for newborns are made from different materials: bamboo fiber, camel wool, flax, fleece, cotton, fluff and padding polyester. There are winter and summer models (with and without fillers), as well as products designed for all seasons.
Blanket envelope
Such products have the standard form of an envelope, but if necessary they can be laid out in a usual blanket. They can be used for discharge from the hospital or a walk, as a regular blanket or play mat.
Envelopes are lightweight and easy to fold. The sizes are different, most often it is 75x75, 90x90 or 110x110. In production, natural fabrics (100% cotton) and anti-allergenic heaters are used.
Envelopes can be winter, summer, demi-season and all-season. All-season models come complete with a fur blanket, which is used with the envelope during the cold season.
Filler
Silk
Silk blankets are durable and durable, they can be used at any time of the year. Moreover, they are not "loved" by dust mites, which can cause an asthmatic attack and rash in a child. Such products do not cause allergies in children. The main disadvantage of silk blankets is the high price.
Pooh
In production, duck or goose down is most often used. It is warm and lightweight, resilient and pleasant to the touch. But down comforters are not recommended for babies, as they often cause allergies and can cause mites and mold fungus.
Wool
This material is used when sewing winter models. He perfectly warms the child and stores the desired temperature. Woolen blankets are well ventilated, thanks to which the baby’s skin breathes. They are highly hygroscopic, i.e. absorb and evaporate moisture. Under such a blanket, the child will not wake up in sweat. However, wool can cause allergies in some people, and dust mites can grow in it.
Bamboo
This filler, as well as wool, has a high hygroscopicity. It does not cause an allergic reaction in a child; ticks and fungi do not start there. In addition, bamboo blankets have a breathable structure, it is warm and comfortable to sleep under them. Another advantage of bamboo is its lightness - even the largest blanket 220x240 weighs no more than 1.5 kilograms.
Vata
This hypoallergenic and warm material is often used to create winter blankets for children. But he absorbs the smell and eventually loses into lumps. The quilt is not recommended for use for newborns, because it is too heavy and does not have the desired hygroscopicity.
Synthetic fillers
In the production of blankets for winter and summer, such synthetic fillers as holofiber, eco-fiber and tinsuleyt are often used. Hollofiber is distinguished by its lightness and high wear resistance, and the ecofiber is characterized by an elastic structure, durability and breathable properties. Thinsulate is considered one of the lightest synthetic materials. This is a very warm material, it is great for the production of winter blankets. But Tinsuleyt has a flaw - it accumulates static electricity.
Cover material
Covers for children's blankets are most often made from cotton, flax, satin, silk and batiste. The best of them is cotton. It does not cause allergic reactions in children, because It is of no interest to dust mites and other parasites. Cotton "breathes", and, in addition, it can absorb and evaporate about 30% of the moisture from the environment and remain dry.
What blanket to choose for a child
-
When buying a blanket for a newborn, pay attention to the natural materials and lightness of the product. For summer, models made of silk, cotton and bamboo are best, and for winter - blankets with a fleece of wool.
-
The baby should be comfortable and warm in his crib, so choose products from hygroscopic material that retains heat. If the baby is prone to allergies, discard the downy, woolen and cotton fillers.
-
Some manufacturers indicate in the title that the blanket consists of "100% camel wool" or "100% bamboo", but the label indicates that the filler is synthetic. Therefore, so that you are not deceived, carefully study everything that is written in "small print", and do not buy goods at a suspiciously low price.
-
Before buying, check the strength of the cover - remember well and whisk the blanket. Make sure that the filler does not come out of it anywhere. This will indicate the quality and strength of the product.
