9 best curved monitors
A good curved monitor can significantly increase comfort when working with a computer. But it needs to be chosen correctly, relying on key characteristics. The model should be moderately large, have high resolution and frequency. We analyzed the market and found 9 of the best curved monitors.
Advantages of a curved monitor over normal
Such devices are not just a marketing ploy: they have a tangible benefit for people who work at a computer every day. They have three main advantages over flat models:
- Eyes less tired. Due to the structure of the eyeball, a curved monitor is more convenient - we see it as if it is concave (if translated into monitor values, then the curvature of the eye would be 1000R). Therefore, when looking at the flat and, especially, the old convex monitors, the part of the picture at the edges is not so clearly and brightly seen as in the center. Just because we can't focus on it. Peripheral vision almost does not work in such conditions - there is not enough sharpness and contrast. When using a curved monitor, this disadvantage is leveled, since all points of the display are approximately at an equal distance from the eye, which solves most of the problems with focusing.
- More useful for sight. It follows from the previous paragraph. Different points of the flat monitor are at different distances from the focus point. And then the eyes when looking at different parts of the screen are forced to constantly change the focus, as the distance from them to the plane changes. The curved display eliminates the problem of frequent refocusing. Consequently, the eyes are less tired.
- It creates the effect of immersion in the picture. Peripheral vision is involved, which allows you to analyze not only what is in front of your eyes, but also what is on the side. Due to this, you can feel a partial "immersion" in the picture. Consequently, the user is less distracted by external stimuli, and his performance increases.
Remember that curved monitors are ideal for personal use - only being exactly in the center of the screen, a person will be able to experience all the advantages of this form of display. If you shift to the right or left, the effect is lost.
How to choose a curved monitor
When choosing the best curved monitor, we suggest studying some characteristics. They will help you choose the best option. Having correctly defined the value of the following parameters, you will be able to purchase a curved monitor, which will not lose relevance in the next few years:
- Screen resolution. The parameter directly affects the quality of the image: the larger it is, the more detailed the image will look (provided that it corresponds to the monitor resolution). Now the majority of content for home or “office” use is in Full HD format (1920x1080 pixels), but after a year and a half, the resolution of QHD (2560x1440) or even 4K (3840x2160) may become more relevant.
- Matrix type. Three types are relevant: TFT IPS, TFT MVA, TFT TN. The TFT TN matrix is the oldest and most common type. It is simple and cheap, does not have significant advantages. The main advantage - in a quick response. Therefore, this choice is ideal for games and movies, where the frame refresh rate is important. But not happy that this type of monitors poorly conveys colors and has narrow viewing angles. The advantages of the IPS-matrix are as close as possible to the real color reproduction and wide viewing angles. But then it responds worse to abrupt changes. Matrices MVA (also found SVA, WVA, PVA) are almost similar to IPS in all indicators, except for contrast. By this parameter MVA beat all types of matrices.
- Display Coverage. Can be matte or glossy. The first does not reflect glare, it is not visible fingerprints and dust. But due to coverage, some of the brightness is lost, and the colors become dimmer. Glossy monitors, in turn, perfectly convey colors, but any speck of dust or a sunbeam will interfere with comfortable viewing of the image.
- Chastock update. The more this parameter - the more smoothly the image will move on the screen. For work or the Internet there will be enough monitor with 60 Hz. And if you are a fan of dynamic films or a gamer, you need to take a model with 120 Hz and above (ideally, with 144 Hz).
- Display diagonal. Depends on the purpose with which you acquire the monitor. If you need it for work or surfing the net, then a 24-inch diagonal will suffice. Watching movies or gaming for complete immersion will require 27 inches or more. Professionals also buy curved monitors with a diagonal of 31-32 inches.
- Aspect ratio. The most relevant widescreen monitors (16: 9). They support most of the content. Gradually, 21: 9 ultra-wide monitors are becoming more common and narrower. They can open two windows at once. Models with a large aspect ratio (eg, 32: 9) are rare.
- WITHcurvature heat. Each monitor has a specific index R. The lower the index number - the more the screen is curved. The most advanced models have a curvature of up to 1800R and less. This is the optimal radius, which is now considered standard.
- Video inputs and connectors. It is desirable that the new monitor has a DisplayPort connector - this will allow to achieve optimal graphics. In the review, almost all models have the appropriate input (if not, this is indicated separately). HDMI input is also required. It is desirable that the model had USB-outputs for connecting peripherals and inputs-outputs for audio.
- Purpose of use. Curved monitors are ideal for movies and computer games. They allow you to plunge into the picture, to feel the effect of presence. If you are professionally engaged in design, graphics or photography, remember: a curved monitor can distort a flat image. Therefore, ideally, try to compare the usability before purchasing.
By selecting the most appropriate values for each characteristic, you can find and buy the most convenient curved monitor for you personally. We also recommend that you try to use the model for at least 5-10 minutes before buying to see if it suits you.

Acer Predator X34P
Rating: 4.9
On a well-deserved first place, this gaming curved monitor was not accidental. It is the most optimal compared to other similar models. This is an ultra-wide monitor with a diagonal of 34 inches and an aspect ratio of 21: 9. Interestingly, the design of the model is bright: black and red color, “aluminum” grinding of plastic, the lack of frames and exterior lights with interchangeable colors. In general, a typical game monitor.
The screen resolution reaches 3440x1440 pixels - honest UWQHD. The native vertical frequency reaches 100 Hz, but with a strong desire you can overclock to 120 Hz. Matrix IPS with semi-matt coating and bend 1900R, which is almost perfect.Backlight W-LED supports Flicker-Less technology, which prevents image flicker. To improve the smoothness of the movement of images, manufacturers have created support for NVIDIA G-Sync. There are built-in speakers - four of 7 watts.
Unfortunately, the color rendition of the monitor limped slightly compared to its competitors: only after adjustment can one achieve more or less natural shades.
Virtues
- High-quality assembly and well-chosen options.
- The optimal ratio of convenience, quality and price.
disadvantages
- The default color rendering is not good enough.

Rating: 4.8
Really huge monitor with a diagonal of 49 inches. It is literally crammed with technology, so it can hit not only with size, but also with functionality. In fact, such a monitor can easily replace a combination of two or three screens. And the advantage will be the seamless design. But you need to be at least a meter away from the model, otherwise it is inconvenient. Manufacturers said the model as a game.
It has an SVA-matrix with a refresh rate of 144 Hz, quantum illumination (the stated color coverage is 125% of the standard sRGB) and Flicker Free technology. However, the latter works only at high brightness, otherwise the monitor is invisible to the eye, but it flickers. The screen is curved along the radius of 1800R, which is ideal for such a diagonal. Format - 32: 9: fit several windows in a row. Supports FreeSync2, HDR. The response speed, according to the manufacturers, does not exceed 1 ms. Conveniently, there is a “Picture-in-Picture” technology, which allows you to connect two computers, laptops, set-top boxes and so on to one monitor at once.
Not quite happy for such a huge resolution - only 3840x1080 pixels. Particularly sharp-sighted users will notice large “fat” pixels, but some will even like it. For designers, this pixel density is not suitable. Not everyone will be pleased that the monitor has no built-in audio system.
Virtues
- Huge 49-inch diagonal.
- Record fast response (1 ms).
- The ability to connect two sources of signal.
disadvantages
- Low screen resolution (3840x1080).
LG 34UC89G
Rating: 4.8
Another ultra widescreen monitor for gamers with a ratio of 21: 9 and a diagonal of 34 inches. The matrix is a typical IPS with all the advantages and disadvantages. Supports G-Sync, which will delight gamers - this will get rid of the problem of personnel gap. Able to accelerate to 166 Hz, but in standard mode it operates at a frequency of up to 144 Hz. The screen resolution is 2560x1080 pixels. This is not enough, but not critical.
Design - typically game. Delight very thin, almost missing side and upper frame. So you can safely assemble two or three such monitors at the junction - the borders will be noticeable very weakly. The presence of gloss is ambiguous - yes, it is beautiful, but the prints on the case remain. The display itself is semi-gloss, which is standard.
Not happy that the monitor has a radius of as much as 3800R - this is much more than the recommended 1800R. Therefore, the effect near will be noticeable much less. It is also inconvenient that the panel with interfaces is located straight, and not turned down.
Virtues
- Laconic game style.
- G-Sync support.
disadvantages
- Large radius of curvature - close to almost no effect.
HP OMEN X by HP 35
Rating: 4.7
Another game monitor with an ultra-wide aspect ratio of 21: 9, an excellent diagonal of 35 inches and a resolution of 3440x1440 pixels. VA-matrix is standard, curved in the optimal radius - 1800R. Standard semi-gloss coating, reliably protects against glare. The refresh rate is not the maximum for monitors of this category - 100 Hz. I am glad that the model supports G-Sync.
There are five degrees of acceleration, which will achieve the desired effect. It should be remembered that the VA-matrix has poor viewing angles - the shades fade significantly. But if you sit right in front of the screen, the color reproduction is quality. The stand under the monitor is very thin, almost imperceptible, but reliable. The design does not stagger at all. But strongly sticks forward. The stand may prevent you from placing the keyboard closer to the device.
It is inconvenient that you can not adjust the gamma of the monitor. It will be necessary to be content with those opportunities to adjust the monitor for themselves, which the developer left - several templates and temperature options.
Virtues
- G-Sync support.
- Excellent stability.
disadvantages
- There is no possibility to adjust the gamma.
- Protruding stand forward.
ASUS ROG Strix XG27VQ
Rating: 4.7
Not bad and inexpensive curved model with good performance. Compared to previous participants, the 27-inch diagonal with a resolution of Full HD (1920x1080) is small, but for most tasks this is enough. The aspect ratio of the model is standard, 16: 9 - suitable for most content. A semi-matt SVA-matrix with a curvature of 1800R has been installed - the colors are bright and saturated, the viewing angles are decent. Curvature is enough for a full immersion in the picture. The refresh rate to 144 Hz is quite a “game” value.
Interesting design with a variety of curves, asymmetrical lines and complex shapes. On the back there is an AURA RGB backlight. So the monitor will look beautiful anywhere. This is facilitated by a special overlay on the compartment for interfaces. Buttons on the case allow you to enable a special GamePlus game mode (shows FPS counter, sight or timer) or quickly switch between GameVisual pre-set modes of operation.
It is interesting that at the price of the device, manufacturers frankly saved on ports. The monitor does not have USB-outs, so connect additional peripherals will not work.
Virtues
- A memorable design.
- Low price.
- Standard configuration (Full HD, 16: 9).
disadvantages
- No USB output.
Samsung C34F791WQI
Rating: 4.7
One of the line of gaming monitors almost standard configuration. Pleases with a minimum radius of curvature - 1500R, which allows you to use the device with maximum comfort. The monitor has a diagonal of 34 inches. The aspect ratio is 21: 9. The SVA matrix is semi-gloss, has a resolution of 2440x1440. It is highlighted by Quantum Dot technology, which provides coverage of 125% sRGB - the colors will be much brighter. Sweep frequency - 100 Hz. At the same time the monitor does not flicker (Flicker Free). Adaptive-Sync and AMD FreeSync technologies are supported, so the frame rate is perfectly adapted to the monitor.
Pleases a good decision to combine the modes "picture in picture", "two pictures next" and the built-in audio system. Now you can connect multiple sources to a monitor and use the whole family. And do not need speakers. It is convenient that the cables can be hidden almost completely - for this there is a channel in the monitor rack and a special blind for closing the compartment with connectors.
The disadvantage we consider is a round stand that is thick and sticks out in front of the monitor. No, it is really stable and comfortable. But if you like to put the keyboard close to the monitor, then it will hurt you.
Virtues
- The best radius of curvature (1500R total).
- Picture-in-picture and two pictures side by side.
disadvantages
- A round stand may interfere with the installation of the keyboard.
LG 34UC79G
Rating: 4.6
The “big brother” of the monitor is LG 34UC89G, which still has not lost its relevance. This model was in the lead in the market in early 2017 and is still a good option for purchase. Matrix IPS, has a LED backlight on the edges (WLED). The resolution of 2560x1080 pixels with a 34-inch diagonal is not too much, but it is comfortable to work. There is a special anti-reflective coating of the matrix, which allows you to not worry about the rays of light that interfere with work.
Design aggressive - the monitor has red inserts, some sharp corners (for example, on the headphone holder). Everything, as the target audience likes. The frequency of the screen is officially 144 Hz - this is ideal for gamers. Also, the model supports Adaptive-Sync and AMD FreeSync. At the same time there is a separate set of settings for computer games in the monitor menu.
Not pleased with the large radius - almost 4 meters (3800R). The effect will be subtle if you sit close to the monitor. It is also inconvenient that all connectors “look” back, not down - it is inconvenient to find and insert wires without getting up from behind the computer.
Virtues
- Low price.
- Game design.
disadvantages
- Large radius of curvature (3800R).
Samsung C24FG73FQI
Rating: 4.5
Compared to other models in the rating, this is frankly a small monitor of 23.5 inches in size. And it can be called a virtue - it will fit on any table. Full HD resolution (1920x1080) allows you to get the most clear picture. But the maximum is not to achieve - there is no DisplayPort input.
Matrix 16: 9 created by technology SVA, has a semi-gloss coating and backlight Quantum Dot. Despite the small size of the matrix, the curvature applied standard - 1800R. Ideally, it was worth using a slightly smaller radius. There is no flicker (Flicker Free). The screen frequency is 144 Hz, so gamers will not have problems with FPS. There is also an adaptive synchronization technology AMD Free-Sync, relevant for owners of the corresponding video card.
Not quite cumbersome, albeit an ergonomic stand, not happy - it consists of two elements connected by a hinge. This allows you to flexibly adjust the position of the screen in relation to the user. You can even change the orientation to portrait, which is rare for curved models. But to install the monitor, it will take quite a lot of space.
Virtues
- A small diagonal.
- Low price.
disadvantages
- Bulky stand.
- No DisplayPort.
Samsung C27F396FHI
Rating: 4.5
This model got to the rating because of not the worst characteristics together with really low cost. Now such a monitor can be found for 12-15 thousand rubles. However, the technical content corresponds. For a start, the stand does not differ in customizability - unlike all other rating models, this monitor can only be tilted or raised. Height change is not available.
The monitor received a SVA matrix of 27 inches with a 16: 9 aspect ratio. With this size, its resolution is not enough - only 1920x1080 pixels. People with good eyesight may notice "fat" pixels. Coverage of the monitor is semi-gloss. Bending radius is good - standard 1800R. So the effect is not added for a tick - it will really be noticeable. There is a game mode and Eye Saver, designed for long-term work (reduces the amount of blue).
The obvious disadvantage is the low frequency, which is only 60 Hz. For gamers, such a monitor is clearly not suitable. Rather, to work in the office or quiet home get-togethers with games and movies. There is also no DisplayPort input - only old HDMI and analog D-Sub. But AMD FreeSync has been added, which will smooth out sharp transitions between frames.
Virtues
- A cheap price for a curved monitor.
- Several modes of operation.
disadvantages
- No DisplayPort input.
- Low frequency (60 Hz).
