12 best beaches of Pattaya
Pattaya is one of the most popular resorts among Russian tourists. This town is universal, because it can provide rest for every taste and budget. Central Pattaya is attractive for its abundance of entertainment and nightlife, but there is noisy, dirty and very crowded. Therefore, more and more tourists prefer the more remote areas of northern and southern Pattaya, where you can relax from the bustle of the city and enjoy a truly paradise holiday in the shade of palm alleys.
Where better to stay a tourist in Pattaya
Different areas of the city differ markedly from each other. Geographically, Pattaya can be divided into three conventional parts:
- North Pattaya It is a quiet place where a large number of condominiums are concentrated, where both foreign tourists and Thais live. The northern part consists of the districts Naklua and Wongamat. Entertainment infrastructure is concentrated closer to the North st. and includes shops, cafes, restaurants and shopping centers.
- City center it stands out because there are a lot of entertainment here - bars, clubs, restaurants, shopping centers.
- South side, including the areas of Jomtien and Pratumnak, attracts primarily clean sea, an abundance of entertainment and measured silence.
We believe that it is better to choose hotels located along the southern or northern part of the resort. There is more relaxed, and loud music and cheerful youth will not interfere with sleep at night. In fact, Pattaya is a small town and, if you wish, in just 10 minutes, you can easily reach the epicenter of entertainment.
Hotels and hotels are concentrated mainly near popular beaches, so you can choose a place of residence based on the beach area you like. Our experts have compiled a rating of the best beaches in Pattaya, relying on the numerous reviews of tourists and travelers.

Koh Lan Island
Rating: 5.0
Opens our rating of a small coral island Ko Lan (Koh Larn), which is located 9 km from Pattaya and is considered a truly paradise. Despite the fact that the island is not so big - only 4 km in length, it has 5 main beaches and several additional ones that are snugly hidden in the bays. Tourists say that the beaches are very clean, and the surrounding landscape is very beautiful. The only drawback of the island Ko Lan is a large number of tourists.
The beaches on the island are privately owned, so to sunbathe on them, you have to rent a sunbed. Apparently for this reason, prices for services and goods are higher here than on the mainland.
You can stop at Koh Lan in comfortable hotels. True, most of them are concentrated on the eastern side of the island, where there are no beaches. But this is not a problem: motorcycle taxis and minibuses run between the beaches, and lovers of high-speed driving can rent a bike for free movement. You can get to the island itself from the mainland by boat or liner.
There are practically no bright sights on the island. They come here mainly for beach holidays. The only thing you can see the temple, see the statues of the Buddha or visit the observation deck overlooking the island itself or nearby Pattaya. The island also has traditional water activities - diving, riding bananas, jet skis. In principle, even despite the large number of tourists, Ko Lan can be considered the cleanest place for swimming in Pattaya.
Bang Saray
Rating: 4.9
The beach in the quiet virgin place of Bang Saray, located 15 km from the center of Pattaya, where there are no high-rise hotels and package tourists, is the second step in our rating. This is the place where you can enjoy a measured rest away from civilization.
Bang Saray Beach itself is not like the rest of Pattaya’s beaches. Its infrastructure is underdeveloped, the beach is not so crowded and not even equipped with sun beds. Although at the moment there are built a lot of condominiums, which gives hope for the development of this part of the resort in the near future.
The beach, although it leaves a pleasant impression, is not suitable for everyone. There is almost no entertainment here, but there is a wide strip of pure yellow sand (about 3 km in length), a shady palm lane and clear, transparent water. The beach is almost always completely calm, so lovers of jumping in the waves have nothing to do here, but families with children will definitely enjoy this holiday in clear, calm water with a gentle descent.
However, the absence of the usual infrastructure for Pattaya does not say that there is nothing at all at Bang Saray. Along the beach there are hotels, Thai restaurants, bistros and cafes. Also directly on the beach there are many Thai macadas where you can get a rug and a picnic table for free, provided you order some food. Travelers say that food is cooked deliciously, but the conditions in which this food is prepared do not always meet the minimum sanitary standards.
At the back of the beach there is a park, created in honor of the 60th anniversary of Queen Sirikit, where you can stroll and enjoy freshly prepared seafood. Also here you can rent a boat and go fishing or look at coral reefs closer. In general, the beach is good for a measured family holiday away from civilization.
Cozy Beach (Cozy Beach)
Rating: 4.8
The small Cozy beach, located in a rather detached part of Cape Pratamnak, occupies the third step in our ranking. Kozi Beach looks more like a closed bay: it is very small and you can easily walk it in a bag in 5-10 minutes. The main descent to the beach is a steep staircase, but, according to many tourists, this is more a disadvantage than an advantage. The length of the beach is 400 meters, the width at high tide is 12-15 m. This place is attractive primarily for couples with children, the main age of tourists is 35 +.
The sand is predominantly small, yellow, but a shell rock appears closer to the water, and the sand becomes harder, there are large stones. The water is gently sloping, although in some places there are places with a silt bottom and sharp stones. Due to the ebb and flow of water in the second half of the day, the water becomes cloudy and in order to reach the depth, you need to overcome some distance. This creates inconvenience, although it does not frighten Russian tourists, of whom there are always many.
There are a number of sun loungers under the umbrellas on the beach, although there is also a place to spread a rug. There are also small cafes with cool drinks and snacks on the beach. There are restaurants that target VIP clients. You can rent jet skis and boats. To more significant attractions will have to travel by car, because Kozy Beach itself is isolated, although it is located not far from the center of Pattaya. Going on holiday in Cozy Beach is best from November to April. Book a hotel preferably two months earlier.
Jomtien Beach
Rating: 4.7
The famous Jomtien Beach is located on the fourth stage of the rating. This is one of the largest beaches in the southern part of Pattaya. The Jomtien Beach line stretches over 6 km, the width of the beach is 15-30 m, the coastal zone is covered with fine sand. In comparison with the beaches in the central part of the resort, you can relax here more calmly, measuredly and safely.
In 2017-2018 on the embankment was reconstructed, in which 600 million baht was invested. Many vacationers say that it has become much better: the sand was cleaned, palm trees were planted, the coastline was increased. The beach is constantly cleaned, special areas are equipped for smoking. But, nevertheless, there is still rubbish here, stray dogs and numerous traders walk around. Also a lot of inconvenience deliver boats that carry tourists to nearby islands. The rest of the impressions of the beach Jomtien positive. Many holidaymakers especially emphasize beautiful sunsets, the romantic sound of the surf, the golden sandy beach and the absence of crowds of holidaymakers.
The expatriates and winterers prefer to live in the vicinity of Jomtien, because there is everything for comfortable living: transport accessibility, developed infrastructure, shops and hotels. By the way, the service sector is focused on Russian tourists - signs, names of dishes in restaurants - everything is duplicated in Russian, and the tour desk has Russian-speaking staff.
The beach offers a wide range of entertainment. There are conditions for skyting, surfing, you can rent a "banana" or a boat. Also on the territory of Dzhemtien there is a large selection of food outlets, where they mainly offer Thai and European cuisine.
Dongtan Beach
Rating: 4.6
Dongtan, located between the beaches of Pratamnak and Jomtien, ranks fifth in our ranking. It is located away from large popular hotels, so there is almost always quiet and calm. Dongtan is most often offered as a great place for a relaxed holiday with children, although they say that you can meet gay guests here, but mostly on the southern part of the beach.
Conventionally, the Dongtan is divided into 3 parts: the northern, southern, and central. For a comfortable rest most suitable is the central part, where there is a rental of beach equipment, umbrellas and sun beds. Lovers of active pastime here will offer water activities - riding on boats, banana, jetski, windsurfing. There is also a volleyball court on the beach. Nearby is a hotel with a water park.
The smallest and least well-developed is the northern side, which began to adapt for rest much later than the rest. There are no cafes and restaurants, lounge chairs and umbrellas.
Tourists in their reviews often unflatteringly speak about the cleanliness of the beaches of central Pattaya, but many distinguish Dongtan as one of the cleanest places to swim. In addition, there are good conditions for diving, riding on boats or jet skis. And shopping lovers will definitely appreciate the fact that next to Dongtan there is the most famous “island” of shops in the city. Not less pleasant sight - beautiful promenade, on which you can stroll both on a hot day and on a secluded evening.
Crescent beach (Crescent Beach)
Rating: 4.5
Crescent beach is often forgotten and not always mentioned in tourist guides, but, nevertheless, this is where you can truly relax. At the sixth stage of our rating, we placed the so-called crescent beach, which is worthy to come here with our closest friends and family.Despite its some estrangement and the lack of some popular entertainment for Pattaya, you can find mostly positive reviews about this place. Crescent beach is located in North Pattaya, between the beaches of Naklua and Palm Beach.
The infrastructure at Crescent beach is poorly developed, but near the crescent beach there are several interesting places that are definitely worth a look. For about 500 baht you can visit the Temple of Truth - the only temple in Thailand, created from wood and with something resembling a magical tower. A snack after a hot holiday can be in small restaurants of Thai and European cuisine.
Pratamnak
Rating: 4.4
On the seventh line of the rating, the Pratamnak beach, popular among Russian tourists, is located between Jomtien and Central Pattaya. One half of the beach is clean and well-equipped, while the second is almost abandoned. The beach stretches for 500 m in length, the sand is spread for 20-40 m in width.
The calm atmosphere of these places is especially popular with children. The audience here is mostly respectable and quiet, but many complain that in the Pratumnak area they often make attacks with the aim of robbery, so you need to be careful in the dark.
The sand is fine and clean, but at the same time, when surfing ashore can take out the garbage, which many beaches in Pattaya suffer in principle. The situation is better near private areas assigned to hotels, the waterways are specially equipped, and sun loungers and umbrellas are provided on the beach. Throughout the territory there is free wi-fi, although speed is enough only to view the news feed in social networks. Nearby are many restaurants, cafes and shops.
The difficult mountainous terrain of the area limits the possibilities for movement, therefore there is no public transport, and for exploring the sights you will have to cover the entire distance on foot. You can get to the area by moto-taxi, tuk-tuk and songteo.
As for the sights, from the hill Pratanmak Hill offers a magical view of the sea - Pattaya Bay, Port Laem and Koh Lan Island, as well as the tropics. Climbing to the observation deck and dropping 10 baht in the coin binoculars, you can admire the surroundings of Pratamnak at sunset. Also on the hill there is a Chinese garden and a statue of Buddha.
Wongamat Beach
Rating: 4.3
The main beach of the north of Pattaya - Wongamat, which is more clean and calm compared to Pattaya Beach, in our rating is on the eighth position of the rating. In the high season there is calm here, the atmosphere is quite calm and perfect for a secluded vacation. Wongamat is located away from the road, but from here it is easy to get to the center of nightlife, to get to shops, restaurants and attractions that are concentrated in the central part of the city.
The beach area is divided into several parts. In the southern part there is only a small landscaped bathing area, the rest of the territory is covered with large boulders. By the way, on their background you can make some great selfies. The northern part is also more suitable for secluded relaxation. The coastal zone is built up with expensive hotels, each of which has its own access to the beach, so all the beds here belong to the hotels and are not rented out. Beach entertainment is only in the center, where you can ride a banana, jet ski, water skiing or play beach volleyball.
In the evening, the Wongamat is rather deserted. Nightlife is concentrated in the Rim Talay Seafood restaurant, where discos are sometimes held. On the beach you can find a lot of stalls, cafes, restaurants where ice cream, cold drinks and a variety of snacks are sold. Traders also often go there, offering a variety of goods. The most interesting attraction, look at which all tourists come from Pattaya, is the temple of truth. There is also an Orthodox church not far from the beach.
Not everyone knows that on Vongamat beach there is a promenade, which is a pedestrian zone that stretches along the entire coast. In general, the beach makes a good impression, many tourists note the purity of the sand, but in some reviews there is information that in the fishing boat area, on the left side of the beach, rats are brought to the shore, although this is not the case in other places on the beach.
Dancing girl beach
Rating: 4.2
The beach of the Dancing Girl, which got its name due to the beautiful legend about the love story, is in ninth place in our rating. In fact, these are two beaches that are delimited by a small cape decorated with sculptures. The western side of the beach is called Nangram Beach, and the eastern side is Nangrong Beach.
On the first beach there is water activities. Also, umbrellas and loungers are traditionally rented, although the thick scrub, starting behind a strip of sand, creates enough shade where you can hide from the heat of the day.
The eastern part is several times longer than the western part, and the green cape with hills creates a pleasant atmosphere. There is a hotel with bungalows to stay overnight. By the way, the infrastructure here is the same as on the western side - restaurants, souvenir shops, toilets.
Entrance to the beach is free, for the entry of one car you have to pay 20 baht, you do not need to pay for the bike. One of the disadvantages of the beach, tourists note that it can only be reached by personal car or taxi.
Ban Ampur
Rating: 4.1
The secluded Ban Amur beach in the south of Pattaya, located about 15 km from the center and a few km from Jomtien, is ranked tenth in our rating. It is impossible to get here through travel agencies, because there are practically no housing and hotel chains nearby. The probability of hearing Russian is almost minimal, there are practically no foreigners on the beach. The beach is chosen by Thais who come here on weekends, and on weekdays, Ban Amur is almost empty. Often there is quiet, calm and cozy. There is no rumble of motors from boats, obsessive merchants and massage parlors.
On the beach is one of the best playgrounds in the city, so tourists with children often come here. There are no resort entertainment at Ban Amur. In the center of the landscape is wind generators, next to which is spacious car parking, toilets and a gazebo. There are restaurants, shopping malls and cafes, as well as shops nearby.
But as for swimming in the sea, many travelers are not satisfied with the quality of sand and water purity. Nearby there is a fishing port and at high tide it takes out a lot of garbage, which almost nobody removes. But, nevertheless, it is still cleaner here than on the central beach of Pattaya. You can get to Ban Amur by a tuk-tuk before turning around Sukhomvit, and then walk or drive to your destination by motorcycle taxi.
Najomtien Beach
Rating: 4.0
The beach in the south of Pattaya, which stretches for 3 km, and is a continuation of the longest Jomtien, occupies the penultimate level in the ranking. Na-Jomtien is considered a suburb and does not quite belong to Pattaya, so it will take quite a long time to get here by public transport. But at the moment is experiencing a construction boom. The coastline is gradually built up cottage villages, hotels and condominiums with direct access to the sea.
These areas have all the necessary equipment, and safe places for swimming are protected by buoys and pontoons. On the territory of the beach, traditionally there are macacnices and cafes, massage parlors, shops. Famous for Na-Jomtien and its seafood restaurants. The water here is cleaner than on other beaches. By the way, the location is ideal for families with children away from the noisy city and evening life.
Military beach
Rating: 3.9
The twelfth and last step in the ranking is occupied by the so-called military beach, which is located on the closed territory of a military base, 20 km south of Pattaya itself.Order a trip to this beach, also called the local Blue Lagoon, can be in travel agencies in Pattaya.
The length of the military beach is 500 m, and the width is 30 meters. The beach is located in a secluded place - on three sides it is surrounded by hills, pastured by thick tropics. They just form a lagoon, which is protected from the winds. And the clear blue water and clean sand attract tourists who are tired of the dirty and noisy beaches of central Pattaya.
The beach is very clean and neat. He is regularly cleaned by cadets. There are swings in the trees, flower beds are located on the adjacent territory. Sun beds and bed covers are available for rent.
