Best camping sleeping bags
Alexika Summer Wide Plus
Rating: 5.0
Let's be honest: Alexika Summer Wide Plus is the best camping sleeping bag on the market at the moment. Yes, he has a lot of weight, equal to about 2.2 kilograms. Yes, dimensions in the folded state also do not contribute to ergonomic transportation (33x25 centimeters). However, everything from the topmost layer to the last lock here is made with a great deal of forethought, which is much more important than transportation comfort.
In fact, Summer Wide Plus is the first and last single-wide bag along the entire length, so that you can wrap it in like a standard blanket. It is designed to grow 195 centimeters with a decent 100-centimeter margin in width in the shoulders and legs. The outer and inner sides of the lining are made of a standard set of polyester fabrics (190T and 190T Diamond RipStop), however, between them there was not quite a typical cotton “layer” with APF-Isoterm 3D insulation 200 (2x100) g / m2.
Now let's get to the most important thing. Contrary to the fact that this sleeping bag is positioned as a particularly summer camping model, the limit of its heat resistance ends at -13 degrees Celsius, and the range of comfort temperature ranges from 2-7 degrees. And if you consider that the cost of this sleeping bag is commensurate with the Husky Mini, questions about the legality of awarding the first place will disappear by itself.
Virtues
- great price;
- high quality finishes and materials used;
- powerful insulation designed for significant temperature changes;
- very large dimensions in the unfolded state (under the growth of 195 centimeters).
disadvantages
- large weight (leveling good heat resistance).
Marmot NanoWave 45 Reg
Rating: 4.9
In terms of performance, the Marmot NanoWave 45 Reg almost completely copies its opponent in the face of the Husky Mini, differing only from a more modest range of comfortable temperatures. Both facing layers of the bag-cocoon are made of water-repellent polyester, not jointed with the membrane material to ensure effective one-sided removal of moisture from the inside. However, for a summer sleeping bag it is not so important ...
... as, for example, weights, with which Marmot NanoWave 45 Reg is all right. When folded, its dimensions are equal to 28x15 centimeters, at which the increase to the weight of the backpack will be only 820 grams. From the point of view of size in the unfolded form, this sleeping bag is designed for people up to 183 centimeters tall, giving a large space to accommodate the shoulder girdle and legs (about 80 and 50 centimeters, respectively). Being identical to the aforementioned competitor, the NanoWave 45 Reg still wins from it at the expense of a lower price, for which it takes an honorable second place in the final rating.
Virtues
- attractive price;
- low weight (only 820 grams);
- high quality finish;
- good selection of overall dimensions.
disadvantages
- mediocre temperature readings.
Husky Mini (2008)
Rating: 4.8
A full-fledged camping sleeping bag from the company Husky, deserving its place in the rankings for its excellent workmanship and the associated performance indicators. Despite the prefix “Mini”, this sleeping bag has a very substantial supply of length and width (220x85x52 centimeters), which causes versatility for consumers of different height and build. The range of comfort here varies from 8 to 12 degrees Celsius, while the value of the extreme temperature is close to -3 degrees. Such indicators may not be a great salvation from the possible cold of the early spring and late autumn periods, but they will definitely bring their own benefit.
According to consumers, despite the more than 10-year history of production, the Husky Mini still has not lost its relevance, but significantly added in terms of value. However, you should not make a big problem out of the current price - in relation to quality, this purchase looks like one of the most promising, even among modern competitors.
Virtues
- good performance;
- high-quality nylon bag finishing and filling with dense synthetic insulation;
- high quality workmanship;
- optimal overall dimensions.
disadvantages
- not the most extensive set of temperature readings.
Tramp night life
Rating: 4.7
The main rate of the manufacturer in this sleeping bag was made to ensure comfort with minimal "cost" on the properties of heat preservation. It turned out well: in any case, Night Life will be a very good companion in recent campaigns on warm summer days. But at the expense of what comfort is provided here? While in other models (take for example the same Mersey) nylon is used as the inner fabric, soft flannel was used here. In addition, it adds convenience and siliconized holofiber used as a dense filler.
From the point of view of temperature regimes, Night Life somewhat loses to other competitors, first of all, by its extreme level. Here it is equal to 0 degrees Celsius, which limits the use of the mattress in late autumn and early spring. But the price parameter, on the contrary, is the most “tasty” in the segment: the savings from such a purchase will be at least 2,000 rubles. Excellent result and, as a result, getting into the ranking of the best.
Virtues
- attractive value;
- high degree of comfort (holofiber as a filler, nylon and flannel on the lining);
- calculation on height to 190 centimeters.
disadvantages
- a large weight (2.2 kilograms) with a weak heat retention function.
Best Trekking Sleeping Bags
Deuter Astro 250
Rating: 4.9
The very light and at the same time cold-resistant development of Deuter is a recognized leader in the sleeping bag segment for summer tracking. The Astro 250 differs from its closest competitors, above all, by its sharpening for holding heat at temperatures down to -10 degrees Celsius with a rather modest range of comfortable grades. This is facilitated by careful selection of materials, aimed at maximum retention of heat inside the cocoon with simultaneous removal of excess moisture ("breathing" functions). The role of insulation in this case is played by natural fluff certified according to the RDS standard.
The overall dimensions of the Deuter Astro 250 are designed for people with a height of 1.8-1.85 meters and a width of the shoulder girdle (maximum speed) up to 75 centimeters. It is also noteworthy that with such a brilliant performance of the heat retention function, this sleeping bag weighs less than all the others: it accounts for only 820 grams. This is an excellent indicator of weight for a long and long hike, coupled with various difficulties of the route.
Virtues
- very small weight (820 grams);
- good heat retention inside (up to an extreme temperature of -10 degrees Celsius);
- high workmanship (stuffing from natural down);
- optimal overall dimensions in unfolded and folded states.
disadvantages
- not identified.
Alexika Megalight
Rating: 4.8
Alexika Megalight kilo-cocoon bag is an ideal choice for summer tourism, but it is equally good at coping with the “insulation liner” tasks for more severe winter expeditions. Designed for people of medium height (180 centimeters), providing comfortable conditions for the placement of the shoulder girdle and legs (the width of the first and second measurement sites is 80 and 55 centimeters, respectively).
Just like in any other bags from Alexika, Megalight uses the principle of combining conceptual technologies from Soft Space and Protective Shell, which allows a comprehensive approach to solving problems of comfort and protection during long hikes of any complexity. Here, nylon 210T RipStop and Soft Micro Polyester 300T Diamond RipStop with a water repellent and moisture wicking action were used as the outer and inner lining fabric. To fill the bag, manufacturers used Hi-Isoterm Technofiber 1.5D synthetic gasket, the density of which is 80 g / m.3. Thanks to this selection of materials, it was possible to achieve, perhaps, the most important characteristic of the bag, namely, excellent temperature regimes that can effectively withstand temperatures down to -7 degrees Celsius.
Virtues
- optimal price performance;
- bag weight (1 kg);
- temperature conditions (comfort - + 11 ° C, limit - + 7 ° C, extreme - -7 ° C);
- high quality workmanship;
- compact shipping dimensions.
disadvantages
- not detected.
Tramp mersey
Rating: 4.8
Inexpensive tracking sleeping bag belongs to the category of summer equipment, intended for use at positive temperatures up to 0 degrees Celsius. It perfectly copes with the functions of providing comfort and protection from natural factors, for which it is rightfully used by a large number of domestic tourists. With dimensions of 230x80x55 centimeters, its weight is only 850 grams, which is achieved through the use of light synthetic fabric in the production. The outer and inner lining of the Tramp Mersey is made of nylon with water repellent (40D 300T Diamond RipStop) and “breathable” (210T Taffeta) features. As for stuffing, the standard for Tramp material is ProLite Extrafil Q7, the density of which is 1x85 g / m.2.
Despite the abundance of advantages, users have one big complaint concerning, above all, the harsh seasonality of a sleeping bag. The fact is that spending the night at temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius in it is a very unpleasant and risky exercise. Thus, it is possible to use Tramp Mersey only in the conditions of summer and late spring / early autumn, in contrast to more heat-resistant direct competitors.
Virtues
- low weight (850 grams) and shipping dimensions (29x18x18 centimeters);
- low cost;
- good appearance, high-quality materials;
- durability of use (subject to the rules of operation).
disadvantages
- very limited temperature conditions (comfort - + 14 ° C, limit - + 8 ° C, extreme - 0 ° C).
Best Expeditionary Sleeping Bags for Winter Treks
Husky Proud
Rating: 4.9
The sleeping bag of Husky Proud is a “middle ground” among all the models considered, for which it regularly receives such a high place in the ranking of the best. Its positive features are not only a neat appearance, but also optimal dimensions, coupled with nominal temperature conditions. The length of the customized "cocoon" is 215 centimeters, while the width of the shoulder girdle and in the legs is 85 and 52 centimeters, respectively. Such indicators will make it possible for most consumers to squeeze into a sleeping bag, as well as reliably isolate the heat inside thanks to a well-chosen screed system.
As for the temperature regimes, the peak of user comfort is achieved within -13 degrees Celsius.At the same time, polyester-nylon lining with synthetic insulation allows you to retain heat up to -29 degrees (extreme point) - if this threshold is exceeded, the bag will be ineffective. From the point of view of transportation, Husky Proud also shows itself from a good side: the weight of 2.25 kilograms will not be a big problem for an experienced forwarder. The only nuance that stands in the way of a mindless purchase is the level of cost. However, this feature is typical for all products of the Husky trademark, therefore, it is still not worth blaming a single model for excessive price.
Virtues
- optimal combination of price and quality;
- optimal temperature indicators (suitable for the autumn-spring season);
- the overall dimensions of the bag (215x85x52 centimeters);
- fairly light weight (2.25 kilograms).
disadvantages
- not found.
Alexika Aleut
Rating: 4.8
The main feature of the spacious winter sleeping bag from Alexika is the combination of two important concepts: creating a complete protection against various negative factors and ensuring the most comfortable conditions of use. The first factor rests on the Protective Shell technology - an integrated approach to the production of the facing layer, which includes work on water-repellent, windproof and at the same time “breathing” bag functions. The second concept successfully uses the Soft Space technology, which unites both the elements of the formation of the “cocoon”, taking into account all the anthropometric features, and the selection of materials for its interior decoration.
As for the overall characteristics, here Alexika Aleut presents several surprises at once. Firstly, its width (in the shoulder girdle) is an impressive 95 centimeters, which is very good for the harsh winter period. Secondly, the bag length is limited to 190 centimeters - seemingly modest, but the vast majority of consumers fit together. Perhaps the only disadvantage of this sleeping bag is a large mass: without providing an impressive increase in terms of temperature extremes (-26 degrees Celsius), it weighs 3.4 kilograms. For example, the same Tramp Oimyakon has a mass of 1.8 kilograms, showing identical temperature readings.
Virtues
- successful “fusion” of two conceptual technologies, guaranteeing maximum comfort and protection;
- good overall performance (190h95 centimeters);
- acceptable cost level;
- the ability to keep temperatures up to -26 degrees Celsius.
disadvantages
- quite a lot of weight (3.4 kilograms).
Tramp oimyakon
Rating: 4.7
Tracking sleeping bag for the autumn-spring period, which got into the rating due to a large number of positive feedbacks about use. It has a rather rigid framework of comfort temperature (from -6 to -11 degrees Celsius), however, it calmly withstands extreme cold up to -25 degrees Celsius. Such results are achieved through the use of high-quality synthetic materials:
- for external facing: nylon fabric 40D 300T Diamond RipStop;
- for interior: 210T Taffeta;
- for filler: ProLite Extrafil Q7 synthetics with a density of about 2x145 g / m2.
From the point of view of dimensions, Tramp Oimyakon will suit the vast majority of users: despite the standard widths (no more than 55 feet, and no more than 80 centimeters in the shoulders), the bag length is 2.3 meters, which gives a large supply of free space. Puffs, slings and various lockers located around the perimeter of the "cocoon", allow you to isolate the inner space as much as possible, ensuring reliable heat retention inside.
Virtues
- competent arrangement of puffs, lines and locks;
- ease of transportation (weight only 1.8 kilograms);
- maintains temperatures down to -25 degrees Celsius;
- quite low price.
disadvantages
- not found.
Marmot CWM MemBrain Reg
Rating: 4.7
A sleeping bag in the form of an anatomical cocoon, designed to retain heat in extremely cold temperatures, which is both a "highlight" and its main drawback. As a filler, natural goose down FP 800+ was used here, the weight of which (without the rest of the decoration) is almost 1250 grams. Thanks to such a significant “interlayer” and the use of dense nylon for internal and external plating (with “breathing” membranes), Marmot CWM MemBrain Reg showed the ability to withstand up to -60 degrees Celsius, which became a real find for polar explorers and their long expeditions.
Unfortunately for ordinary fans of winter tourism, in standard conditions of low temperatures, this sleeping bag will not be so comfortable. The fact is that the peak of its comfortable temperature falls to -40 degrees Celsius, and therefore at higher elevations it will be very hot in it. There are no more complaints about Marmot CWM MemBrain Reg: in other aspects this sleeping bag manifests itself with an exceptionally good side, for which it deserves an honorable place in the ranking of the best.
Virtues
- "Fair" temperature conditions (comfort is achieved at the designated mark of -40 degrees Celsius);
- the presence of additional pockets to accommodate devices;
- high-quality finish, proper location of lockers and clasps;
- very convenient form.
disadvantages
- quite high price;
- low level of comfort with the difference of the steady-state temperature regime with the declared values.
